I heard about the Old Neighborhood Grill last year but finally got around to eating there yesterday. We like Chicken Fried Chicken so we ordered that with a side of mashed potatoes with gravy. The plate came with two sides so the other choice was Zucchini with squash. The plate came with Texas toast. We liked the large chicken fried chicken. The plates were $12.75 which were cheaper compared to Westside Cafe which has gone up in price to $15.99. We believe the price and great taste is a great reason to return! The vegetables were top notch too! Yummy. We will try the fantastic burger menu next time with those homemade onion rings. We saw a waitress bring out a cheeseburger and I kid you not it was one tall cheeseburger. The music in the background provided that 70s or 80s vibe. The place had that small cafe feel but plenty of seating in 1 of two rooms.

We are always looking for a classic Southern "plate lunch" restaurant, & Old Neighborhood Grill delivers! My guess is 200 menu options are available (e.g., pot roast, burgers, veggie plates, tacos...). TIP: Head to the counter, order/pay, pick table, & waitstaff brings your order to you. Staff is SO friendly! Food is not quick, but it's worth it bc it's prepared for you so arrives hot & delicious. Ambience is late 80s/90s frozen in time. There is a tv to watch the news & sports. Maybe 15 tables inside. Location is just off 8th, a few blocks south of Rosedale/Magnolia. Private parking in-front. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Ordered chicken fried steak, fried ocean and a chicken salad sandwich to go. All food was prepared and ready within 20 min. Fast, friendly and efficient. Location is warm and cozy, when I picked it up. Meal was delicious.

We love this neighborhood joint and like to stop in after a long day at the zoo for friendly faces and delicious fresh food. They have something for everybody and the service is great.

I have eaten here 3 times. Great food, friendly service, reasonably priced. I have had the chicken and waffles, with special order grits with cheese and jalapeños. The apple pie was awesome. I have also tried the cinnamon apples. Everything has been cooked perfectly.

Obviously, it's a neighborhood favorite. I was there because the reviews said that they make a great BLT. It is good, but if you want Mayo on it you have to ask. They make their curly fries from scrach and they are good. Parking on a Saturday morning was a challenge, but certainly do-able.

The food is so good here. It has to be the best chicken-fried steak ever. It was light and crispy with just the right amount of gravy. The wide variety of sides is really nice.

My friend and I were unusually late in eating out; however, both of us were very hungry after a somewhat grueling day. The place was almost empty with only a few other patrons present. Surprisingly, we both ordered the chicken fried steak and dessert. Delicious! With the great food, along with the quiet ambiance, we had a great time of fellowship. Our server took good care of us as well. The restaurant seemed clean and well-maintained. Definitely eat here if and when you're in the neighborhood.

My husband and I come here a lot. It's a cute and homey restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring you your food. There are two interior dining areas and a few bistro type tables on the sidewalk in front. My husband comes here for their chicken fried steak and loves it. I decided that today I would get a BLT since I had seen a good review on it. They definitely didn't hold back on the bacon. It was crunchy which is the way I like it, but may not be for everyone. I just wish the lettuce and tomato was more proportioned to the bacon. After eating a few bites I had to open the sandwich to make sure there was tomato in it, and there was but it was a small thinly sliced portion. So, the sandwich was good but the B overpowered the L and T. Food came out promptly even though is was a busy lunch service. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

This cozy little spot is well spot on! A wide variety of menu items made it hard to choose, but several of us had the fish and chips, which were amazing ! I will have lunch here anytime. I'm in the area.
